Our Story
In the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, where the history of American gold first took root, Studio Jewelers has quietly carried forward a tradition of craftsmanship, artistry, and enduring beauty.
The studio was founded by Thomas E. Scanlin, a jewelry designer whose work was known for its thoughtful design and meticulous execution. Thomas built Studio Jewelers not simply as a retail store, but as a creative studio where jewelry was approached as both art and craft. Over the years, his distinctive aesthetic and dedication to quality earned the trust of collectors, clients, and visitors who discovered the shop while exploring Dahlonega’s historic square.
Dahlonega itself is inseparable from the story of gold in America. In 1828, the hills surrounding the town sparked the nation’s first major gold rush, shaping the character of the region and establishing Dahlonega as one of the country’s most storied gold towns. It is a fitting home for a jewelry studio devoted to the beauty and legacy of precious metals and gemstones.
A new chapter began in 2023, when Carol and Bill Lucker became the stewards of Studio Jewelers. Their connection to the studio was not accidental. Before the transition, Thomas personally mentored and trained the Luckers, sharing not only his technical knowledge but also the philosophy that defined the studio: that jewelry should be thoughtfully curated, beautifully made, and worthy of becoming part of a family’s story.
Today, Carol and Bill carry that vision forward with deep respect for the foundation Thomas created. The studio continues to offer a carefully curated selection of fine and estate jewelry, pieces chosen for their craftsmanship, character, and timeless appeal. Each item reflects the same commitment to quality that has long defined Studio Jewelers.
What remains unchanged is the spirit of the studio itself: a place where jewelry is not simply bought, but discovered. Where history, artistry, and Dahlonega’s golden heritage come together in pieces meant to be worn, treasured, and passed on.
Studio Jewelers stands today as both a continuation of Thomas E. Scanlin’s legacy and a new chapter guided by Carol and Bill Lucker, ensuring that the tradition of exceptional jewelry in Dahlonega continues for generations to come.
